Progress of My Mask

My mask has been on a good progress.
Making a mask is to be planned step by step.
It started off when we had to draw a side view, front view and maybe the back view. Drawing, the different patterns and planning out different places to transform a different animal and blend them altogether as one in 3 animals.
  1. We had a plastic bag, and we stuffed lots of newspaper in it for like 15 mins until it's full and almost unable to stuff anymore, then we tie a know to that plastic bag.
  2. We then use our fingers to clay the plastic bag and model out different shapes (e.g. ears... beaks...) and then sticky tape it all.
  3. When all parts are finished with sticky tape. {Let's say we're doing 3 animals of dolphins, bats & cat---} We cut out a dolphins tail and then smoothly input and staple it onto the back of the plastic bag. Cut out wings of the bats.... Form ears using your fingers to model around and sticky take it. You can model the face around, making puffy cheeks or whatsoever until you are satisfied.
  4. The next progress is to paper mache... In the paper mache-ing process, we put a total of 4 layers on to fully have it thick, distorted and full stable and ready to paint. We first have a layer of newspaper paper - mache-ing, then we have a layer of white paper (paper that is not printed before becoming a newspaper), then another layer of newspaper mache-ing, then lastly another layer of white paper.
  5. When all dried and things are robust and ready to go. We paint our beautiful masks. Each lesson, we accumulate more colours and so it looks absolutely beautiful.
  6. After all these process is done, on the bottom of the mask, we cut out a circle shape so that we can pull out all the newspaper that we stuffed before and replace it for our heads to wear it.

^^ Mask/hat PARTY!!!!! -o-

These are the processes of making our masks.
