My Feelings About My Mask (Moods & Illusions)
I have a wonderful feel to my mask. Before, I had a plan for my mask of loyalty and pride. In this mask that I had made so far, I had only put in a feeling of pride. In sense of what I feel about my mask is that my mask makes me feel a kind a intense feeling, every time I look at it. I remember when Ms Hampton says: "Be creative, go over outside the box!"
In that lesson, I decided a whipping change of animal, which was from a plover to a peacock. A male peacock is absolutely stunning and beautiful. Everytime I look at my mask, I can imagine the extreme beauty of the patterns on the peacock's tail. Also, in that lesson, I made my most pure, creative designs that I tried to create using my fingers for my mask, and so I did and attempted. :D I also have a feeling of warmth when I look in from of my mask, because it is a tiger. A tiger gives love for everyone that they know, especially their babies. They always look so magnificent and so I can never take my eyes off them. I am trying to add a sense of loyalty in the front of the face. Then lastly, I added a dragons foot... They have powerful, strong foot to walk and fly off. They show a significance of wisdom and intelligence. (Although, I didn't do to well making the legs.) -_-
If I was to give 3 different colours to describe my mask. I would say, "sleek black", "Golden Rose-Red" & maybe "Creamish Yellow~Orange"...

Progress of My Mask
My mask has been on a good progress.
Making a mask is to be planned step by step.
It started off when we had to draw a side view, front view and maybe the back view. Drawing, the different patterns and planning out different places to transform a different animal and blend them altogether as one in 3 animals.

It started off when we had to draw a side view, front view and maybe the back view. Drawing, the different patterns and planning out different places to transform a different animal and blend them altogether as one in 3 animals.
- We had a plastic bag, and we stuffed lots of newspaper in it for like 15 mins until it's full and almost unable to stuff anymore, then we tie a know to that plastic bag.
- We then use our fingers to clay the plastic bag and model out different shapes (e.g. ears... beaks...) and then sticky tape it all.
- When all parts are finished with sticky tape. {Let's say we're doing 3 animals of dolphins, bats & cat---} We cut out a dolphins tail and then smoothly input and staple it onto the back of the plastic bag. Cut out wings of the bats.... Form ears using your fingers to model around and sticky take it. You can model the face around, making puffy cheeks or whatsoever until you are satisfied.
- The next progress is to paper mache... In the paper mache-ing process, we put a total of 4 layers on to fully have it thick, distorted and full stable and ready to paint. We first have a layer of newspaper paper - mache-ing, then we have a layer of white paper (paper that is not printed before becoming a newspaper), then another layer of newspaper mache-ing, then lastly another layer of white paper.
- When all dried and things are robust and ready to go. We paint our beautiful masks. Each lesson, we accumulate more colours and so it looks absolutely beautiful.
- After all these process is done, on the bottom of the mask, we cut out a circle shape so that we can pull out all the newspaper that we stuffed before and replace it for our heads to wear it.
^^ Mask/hat PARTY!!!!! -o-
These are the processes of making our masks.

Week 2~3 Art Lessons :D
Term 2 has been going sooooooo fast. I don't know how many Art lessons have already gone by. I only know that it's~ --- (FUN!)
We're finally starting mask making in these weeks.
In week 2, we started our first lesson on mask making. Firstly, we had to use a big piece of plastic bag that can fit our head (well 1 1/2 times my head). Then Ms Hampton told us to shove a whole of newspaper until it's sturdy and robust. It took at least 40~60 newspaper to stuff in hard enough in the plastic bag. (It took 15 mins!!!!!!!) But it was a great experience to know what it's suppose to be like.
At one stage, Ms Hampton had explained that when we finish making our outside shapes of the mask. And when we fully paper-machaed the whole thing. We'll cut open the hole under the head of the mask where we stuffed all our newspaper in. Then we'll pull out all of the newspaper and we can fit our head inside. I thought it was quite smart to do it that way {in my opinion}. ^^
Anyway, in the 3rd week of school. I started making the ears and Ms Hampton used my mask as a demonstration to the class on how to make a beautiful nose where it connects smoothley up to the head, and also how to make eyes. We had to make an eye pocket where we can stuff a ball of newspaper in it to make eyes stand out. It was absolutely clever and wonderful and EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was lucky, because I didn't need to do the work, instead Ms Hampton did all of my work when she used my mask as a demonstration. At the very end of Week 3's last lesson of Art, I spent the whole lesson drawing a peacock's back tail {It was soooooo hard, because of all the beautiful patterns.} And I had to take 20 minutes of cutting it out. [After that, my whole right hand was swollen and cut and red.] :( It really wasn't a fun thing to do.
Oh well, it was a great to weeks to have experience the introduction of mask-making. I could mask-make later myself when I'm free in the holidays :D
Hope everyone enjoys mask-making. o_O
