Texture and Patterns

Well... For my mask... I was thinking of doing a deep colour with emotions of darkness and elegance. (It ends up that I failed to do that. It was highly impossible, since it was more difficult than it looks.)
My mask includes (tiger, peacock and dragon). For the head, I decided to do a tiger's head. For my back and the tail, I decided to do the beautiful tails of the peacock. And for the arms, I decided to do it on the scales of a dragon.
I wanted to use the elegant, royal dark blue colour, dark purple, and red... (I might as well include some gold...)
I can only say that it's hard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =(

Mini Description of Analogous Colours (Plz Go Further Down the Blog to View --- Colour Schemes)

Analogous colors are a palette of compatible color combinations that blend well together. They are neighbors on the color wheel. They tend to live harmoniously because they are relatives to each other.
Analogous colors are less vivid, bright and saturated. They have less contrast and vibrational energy then complementary colors.

The 4 Hrs Painting at Home

OMGosh..... Today, I brought my whole mask home. I prepared bringing all the modelling paste and paint home. It was a big load. I got home at 8:00... So I ate dinner and showered and did some other homework and started working on my mask.
My mask is due tomorrow, but since my mask is pretty huge, Ms Hampton kindly lets me just finish the front of the mask. =] That made me soooooo relieved.
So, I started working on my mask at 9:00pm, I knew that I couldn't finish everything myself all night long, so I decided to ask mum. Mum is soooo helpful. She laid her hands in and started working on the mask with me. She gave me some ideas to use in my mask. I ask her to do all the modeling and pasting and help me carve out my patterns carefully. Whereas, I did the painting with the blends. We swapped over jobs, many time. Since modelling paste actually dries for an hour, we really had to make it quick or I won't be able to get sleep. We decided to use 3 blow dryers and dry all the modelling paint. It was actually a good idea. It dried the modelling paste with a big hot blow of 10 mins. =] (My new discovery!)
I placed modelling paste all over my mask, bit by bit. Then drying it bit by bit. I sorted out patterns to put on. And in the end, I added a beautiful eyeline using a sleek black colour and lining it on the eye of my mask. It was actually quite facsinating for what the result turned out to be. Well, I finished painting at 1:00am... (4 hrs of hard work), but I wasn't tired. I was seriously VERY GLAD!!!!!! and happy. I thanked mum!
I think I would never want to experience another mask-painting, even if it's really fun! (It's dreadful!!!!)

Colour Schemes (Analogous)

Their are many colour schemes to be viewed and seen. Ms Hampton gave a sheet to practice blending the Analogous colours. It was really hard. (Harder than I thought!) I decided that I will do that in my mask. I chose the cool and dark elegant in depth colour for my mask. They include the pure dark blue ocean colour ( very royal colour indeed ), a dark purple, lavender purple, and red.... I will try to mix and blend them the best as possible.

Progress Throughout (Start of Term 4)

WOW! Term 4... Everything is sooooooo quick that i don't even realise. I hate time...... (It betrays me!) Anyway... back to 'MASKS'.
Well... Now that it's term 4, for the first lesson, i went to pick up my mask and I was conscious that I had a few spots that not covered with paper machaes properly. And I missed a layer in a section of the mask. ( I AM SO CARELESS). This wasted me 2 more lessons to work on the mask. Finally in the 2nd Week, I can start modelling paste.
I seriously to realise that this all was not as easy it looks. I can finalise up saying that I really really hate modelling paste soooooo much! I don't even now how to properly use it. Something else, I couldn't do was to crack the paddle pop sticks into half where it made a sharp edge. (I am sooooo weak.) The first time I did it, I asked Ms Hampton to do it for me. Then, in another lesson I cracked another paddle pop stick. That time, it cracked and one stick hit my eye so badly, while the other half pieced my finger to bleed! [NOT PLEASANT....] >_<"
So, I decided when I added modelling paste, I would add a unique pattern. So, I added a lot of swirls in front of the mask. Very elegant swirl that would look like a music pattern painted around. That was where I was up to.
Now, in this week (Week 4), i had blended from the swirls into fur and down to my arms that has dragon scales... i have to work harder and get it done. I'm always the slowest. =[

Masks Progress

Well.... this is about the evaluation up for Term 3. Well... In term 3, I kept working on my mask. I only had 1 layer done. Finally 2 layers in the middle of the term.... And I actually MANAGED to finish paper macheing at the end of the term. That was quite a lot of work to do. =(
I think I've tried as hard as possible. I do realise I have a pretty big and COMPLEX mask, truly fixated to a big area to create and design...
It was such a relief to have a realisation knowing that I had finish papermacheing...
Something else is, I have started drawing drawing designs in my visual art diary. I drew out some colour schemes that I have planned to paint on my mask. =)
Well... that's all, folks!

(P.S. At the very last lesson in Term 3... I hid a pile of paper-macheing paper that's already cut out inside and under a cupboard where no one know where it is. It's for emergency use, in case I need it later!!!)

Optical Illusions to Make Things More IInteresting :D

Are the lines straight or not straight. (It's suppose to be straight!) =]
When you look at it, does it move? It's suppose to move like a wave. Look closer if you really can't see it. It's a very good optical illusion. :D
Is this a polar bear trying to get out of the freezing pool in the ice or a seal crawling on the ice?
Can you figure out what's wrong with this box? It's playing tricks on your eyes. ^^
